WILLEMSTAD - Fundashon Kas Popular (FKP) has proposed the Kurá di Shon Fil location as a new home for the Fundashon Sentro di Bario Otrobanda (SBO), but SBO chairman Jonathan Plantijn finds this location unsuitable. The current SBO location on Sint Martinsteeg must be vacated due to a court ruling related to a rent debt of more than 700,000 guilders.
Despite mediation and a temporary extension of the rental period, SBO needs to find a new location. FKP suggested Kurá di Shon Fil, a spacious and vacant government building with a garden and sports facilities. However, Plantijn notes that this location is not centrally located and is difficult to access for people with limited mobility. There are also concerns about the safety and suitability of the location for a community center.
SBO has informed FKP of these objections in a letter and proposed either continuing to use the current premises or moving to another location, such as Landhuis Kortijn in Otrobanda. Although Landhuis Kortijn is currently in poor condition, Plantijn sees potential for renovation with funding from European Union development funds.
In the meantime, SBO will continue its activities at the current location, and Plantijn emphasizes that no one needs to worry further about this matter.
