WILLEMSTAD — With speeches, music, and reflection, Korpodeko celebrated its 40th anniversary last week, marking four decades of contribution to entrepreneurship and socioeconomic development in Curaçao. The special event brought together government officials, business leaders, union representatives, and local entrepreneurs to honor the developmental bank’s legacy and look toward its future.

The milestone was an opportunity to reflect on Korpodeko’s role in shaping the island’s economic landscape. Interim Director Gerald Stacie, in his address, highlighted the foundation built over the past forty years and expressed the organization’s commitment to continuing its mission. Board Chairman Dudley Lucia emphasized that since its establishment, Korpodeko has been dedicated to turning entrepreneurial dreams into reality — from small ideas born at kitchen tables to larger businesses that drive job creation and economic growth.
The celebration also included the unveiling of Korpodeko’s new motto and accompanying jingle, symbolizing a renewed focus on impact, growth, and development. The event reinforced the importance of adaptability and innovation as key values moving forward.
Over the years, Korpodeko has supported a wide range of projects across the island, including developments in Jan Thiel, Sta. Barbara, Pietermaai, and several hotel ventures. As it enters its fifth decade, the organization continues to position itself as a cornerstone of Curaçao’s economic progress.
