WILLEMSTAD – Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport (ESKD), Mr. Sithree van Heydoorn, actively participated in the 2025 edition of the King's Games (Weganan di Rei). Together with Governor Lucille George-Wout, Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas, and Minister of Justice Shalten Hato, he visited the first school on the schedule—Kolegio Tirzo Martha in Buena Vista, part of the Public School Board—to officially launch the day’s events. The delegation then continued to Kolegio Fatima, a school under the Catholic School Board.

The celebration of the King’s Games is an initiative by King Willem-Alexander, introduced over 12 years ago when he took the throne. Each year, the event is organized locally by Mrs. Mavis Albertina. The goal of the day is to celebrate the King’s reign while promoting physical activity and healthy eating. All students from participating schools receive a balanced breakfast and then engage in movement-based activities throughout the day.

For the past four years, Minister Van Heydoorn has allocated government funds to support the organization of this annual event. He expressed deep appreciation for Mrs. Albertina’s continued efforts and reflected positively on another successful edition of the King’s Games this year.
On behalf of the people of Curaçao, Minister Van Heydoorn extended his gratitude to His Majesty King Willem-Alexander, Governor Lucille George-Wout, and Mrs. Mavis Albertina for their dedication and commitment to the youth of the island.
