THE HAGUE - Since March 1, students at the MBO/SBO level 3 and 4, HBO, and WO within the kingdom can apply for the Kingdom Scholarship. The scholarship aims to facilitate study exchanges and internships within the kingdom for students. Annually, there is the capacity to support approximately 120 students.
The goal is also to increase the academic success of students, as the scholarship provides an accessible way for them to get a taste of studying abroad.
The scheme is available for students from Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten and is designed to support them in their academic endeavors in Dutch higher education.
Eligibility
According to the new conditions, the subsidy is available for students who hold Dutch nationality or are considered equivalent and are enrolled full-time in a recognized program in the Netherlands.
The scheme emphasizes the inclusion of secondary and higher vocational education at levels 3, 4, or 5, recognized by educational institutions in the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom.
A crucial criterion is that students must have successfully completed their first year of study, with requirements varying depending on the type of program. For bachelor's and associate degree programs, all credits of the first year must be earned.
Students in vocational, middle management, or specialist programs must have completed all compulsory subjects and components of the first year. It's noteworthy that students pursuing a master's degree are exempt from this requirement.
The scheme further states that students who have previously received subsidies under this scheme are not eligible again.
The initiative is praised as a significant step forward in supporting Caribbean students who make a crucial contribution to the multicultural and academic richness of the Netherlands.
