THE HAGUE - Aruba's Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes, Luc Mercelina, and Sint Maarten's Deputy Prime Minister Marinka Gumbs are part of the Kingdom delegation attending the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York next week. They will be joined by Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof, Minister of Foreign Affairs Caspar Veldkamp, and Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Reinette Klever.
Prime Minister Schoof will arrive on the evening of September 24 and will have dinner with the delegation and representatives of Dutch companies. The following day, he will engage in various bilateral meetings with heads of state and government leaders, and in the afternoon, he will attend an event hosted by Queen Máxima on inclusive financing for development. In the evening, the delegation will attend a reception hosted by U.S. President Biden.
On Thursday, September 26, Schoof will address the United Nations General Assembly. He is also scheduled to meet with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, participate in bilateral discussions with several heads of state and government leaders, and engage with representatives from U.S. companies.
Prime Ministers Wever-Croes and Mercelina will represent the Kingdom at the Summit of the Future, while Deputy Prime Minister Gumbs will represent the Kingdom at high-level meetings on rising sea levels and antimicrobial resistance.
