THE HAGUE - The countries have agreed on the dates for the Kingdom Conference: March 25 and 26 in Willemstad. This was announced by the State Secretary for Kingdom Relations, Van Huffelen, in a letter to inform the Dutch House of Representatives about the progress of a large number of kingdom files, from education in Curaçao to BES legislation.
After a series of unsuccessful Kingdom Conferences, they ceased to exist. However, Members of Parliament Jorien Wuite (D66) and Lammert van Raan (PvdD) revived the 'summit' through a widely supported motion. Before it can proceed, a 'Kingdom Committee' must be established. The committee will consist of representatives from the four countries and will be chaired by Curaçao.
Before the committee can start its work, the Prime Ministers of the CAS countries and the State Secretary must sign a 'Protocol for the Establishment of a Kingdom Committee for the Organization of the 2024 Kingdom Conference.'
