WILLEMSTAD - The Partido Kòrsou Ekselente Movement (KEM) has issued a press release highlighting various issues facing Curaçao and urging the government to take swift action. Among the concerns raised are poorly lit streets, traffic and waste-related disturbances, and delays in the implementation of critical laws. The party has already submitted multiple proposals but emphasizes that action from the responsible authorities is urgently needed.
According to KEM parliament member Anthony Godett, residents in Jandoret are struggling with a lack of street lighting, creating unsafe conditions. "The darkness not only presents risks but also shows that this neighborhood is being overlooked in terms of development," Godett said. The party also called for intervention in Kurapiedra, where traffic congestion and poor sidewalks pose dangers.
Additionally, Godett pointed to pollution in Mahuma, noting that overgrown streets, such as Kaya Bakatòr, make accidents inevitable. He urged authorities to take responsibility and address these issues.
KEM also stressed the importance of promptly implementing the "Gevangenis Beginselenwet" (Prison Principles Law) and the "Verplicht Basis Pensioen" (Mandatory Basic Pension Law). "These laws are crucial for the rights of workers and prisoners. The people deserve clarity and action," Godett asserted.
While KEM continues to voice its concerns, the party acknowledged that achieving structural changes relies on cooperation from government agencies.
