WILLEMSTAD – The Kaya Kaya Movement has launched a brand-new cultural activity: the Kaya Kaya ArtWalkastry. This guided walking tour offers participants a unique opportunity to explore Otrobanda as an open-air gallery filled with art, stories, and culture.
During the tour, visitors are introduced to around sixty artworks and murals, each accompanied by explanations of their meaning, the artists’ backgrounds, and their cultural significance to the neighborhood. The guides have been specially trained to provide accurate and comprehensive information about Otrobanda’s history, creativity, and identity.
The ArtWalkastry is available in four languages: Papiamentu, Dutch, English, and Spanish, ensuring accessibility to both locals and international visitors.
Tours take place every Thursday evening from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, starting at the Kaya Kaya HUB, located at Breedestraat 47 in Otrobanda, next to the viaduct.
The initiative aims to deepen appreciation for Otrobanda’s rich cultural heritage while supporting local art and community engagement.
