WILLEMSTAD - Kaya Kaya has introduced the ‘Skol Urbano’ and the second edition of the ‘Art Week’. These events promise to transform Otrobanda into a vibrant hub for art enthusiasts, according to the organizers.

Raygen Zuiverloon, the creative director of Kaya Kaya, emphasized the importance of such events for the local community. “Skol Urbano is a new platform that focuses on various forms of creative and artistic expression,” said Zuiverloon.
Xavier Navarro, responsible for organizing Skol Urbano, explained that the event is aimed at celebrating and promoting culture, community building, and creativity. Skol Urbano will take place in the St. Martinus Mavo building on Belverderestraat.
During Skol Urbano week, a variety of activities will be organized, including workshops in dance, writing, music, and sculpture. There will also be panel discussions on topics like the night economy, crypto and NFTs, along with poetry jams, dance-offs, and DJ showcases. One of the highlights will be the launch of Aldair's new album on August 20.
In addition to Skol Urbano, the second edition of the Art Week will also take place, organized by Noe-Amy Maria. Starting August 19, thirty artists will present their work in various art houses. During this week, new murals will be created, stairs will be artistically painted, and existing artworks will be restored.
Richailine Elisa of Elisa Academy will present the unique storytelling project ‘OTC Ser’i Otrobanda Levendige Verhalen’ during Art Week, inspired by the photographs of Sinaya Wolfert.
Another special feature is the Kaya Kaya Art Walkastry, a walking tour through Otrobanda led by local residents, offering visitors the chance to experience the rich history and vibrant culture of this iconic neighborhood in Curaçao.
The events will take place from August 18 to 24.
