WILLEMSTAD - After being closed for a long time, the Ministry of Social Development, Labor, and Welfare (SOAW) has announced the reopening of Kas di Bario (neighborhood house) in Dokterstuin, specifically for the Bándabou region. This decision comes in response to the difficulties faced by residents in traveling to more distant community centers. Upon assuming office as Minister of Social Development, Labor, and Welfare, Dayanara Chin-A-Lien-Roozendal received numerous requests from local residents to reopen Kas di Bario Dokterstuin. As a result, she prioritized this matter, according to her statement.
Starting April 8, 2025, all residents of Bándabou will be able to visit the newly renovated Kas di Bario Dokterstuin, located in the former Giro Bank office in Dokterstuin, for inquiries, requests, or assistance. The Ministry also plans to announce soon when Domain Management will begin offering services at this center.
“What sets the new Kas di Bario Dokterstuin apart from the previous version is the ministry’s increased focus on neighborhood-based care. This center will serve as a place for education, awareness, information, and transformation for the local community,” stated the Ministry.
Opening Hours
In the initial months, the center will be open three times a week:
Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday
Client hours: 08:00 AM – 11:00 AM
In the afternoons, staff will focus on home visits and community training sessions.
