Justice places information pamphlets at Curaçao airport against human trafficking

Local | By Correspondent August 1, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - On the occasion of the International Day Against Human Trafficking, observed annually on July 30, the Ministry of Justice has installed pamphlets and banners in all public restrooms at Hato Airport. This initiative is part of a broader effort to raise awareness about the dangers of human trafficking, a crime that affects thousands of people worldwide, including those in Curaçao.

The informational pamphlets and stickers were created as a result of an agreement between the government organization PATH, the Prevention of Abuse and Human Trafficking, and the airport operator CAP.

By placing the pamphlets in public restrooms, they hope to reach a wider audience, including those who may not be aware of the risks associated with human trafficking.

The stickers, banners, and pamphlets provide information on reporting cases of human trafficking and also offer contact details for the necessary authorities for assistance. This is an essential step to raise awareness and promote the prevention of human trafficking in our community.

In conjunction with the International Day Against Human Trafficking, the government organization has launched a new website (www.path.cw). This platform is dedicated to the fight against human trafficking.

The website offers detailed and up-to-date information about human trafficking, including guidance on warning signs, victim stories, and information on what individuals can do to help prevent and combat human trafficking.

There is also a special section for reporting suspected cases directly to the relevant authorities. The initial version of the website is launched in English, with plans to add other languages later to make the platform multilingual.
