ATLANTA – After months of speculation, Curaçaoan baseball star Jurickson Profar has found a new home. Profar has signed a three-year deal with the Atlanta Braves worth $42 million. The contract will pay him $12 million in his first season and $15 million in each of the final two years.
Profar, who recently completed the best season of his Major League Baseball (MLB) career, has now secured the largest contract of his career. In the 2024 season, he posted a batting average of .280, meaning he successfully hit a base hit in 28% of his official at-bats.

A Versatile Player
Profar’s 2024 stats are a testament to his all-around talent. He hit 24 home runs, drove in 85 RBIs, and recorded 29 doubles. Additionally, he scored 94 runs and achieved an impressive on-base percentage of .380, indicating he reached base in 38% of his plate appearances.
These numbers highlight Profar’s ability to contribute offensively in multiple ways, making him a valuable asset to his team.
A Breakout Year
The 2024 season was a breakout year for Profar, during which he set personal records in runs, home runs, RBIs, and on-base percentage. Despite injuries and inconsistent performances from other star players, Profar was a standout contributor to the San Diego Padres’ offense. His efforts earned him his first-ever selection to the MLB All-Star Game.
A Key Role in Atlanta
With the Braves, Profar will take on a key role in the outfield alongside Michael Harris II and Ronald Acuña Jr., who is recovering from an injury. Atlanta hopes Profar’s hitting prowess will bolster their lineup, especially as their left-field players from last season struggled with consistency.
Joining the Braves also reunites Profar with second baseman Ozzie Albies, giving the team two Curaçaoan stars in their 2025 lineup. Profar will become the seventh Curaçao-born player to suit up for the Atlanta Braves in MLB history.
The Braves are banking on Profar’s versatility and offensive power to help push the team closer to championship contention in the upcoming seasons.
