WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao experienced a hotter, windier and drier-than-average July, according to the latest monthly climatological analysis released by the Meteorological Service of Curaçao.
The report shows that average temperatures during July 2026 were above the island's long-term 30-year average, continuing a trend of warmer-than-normal conditions. Temperatures were also slightly higher than those recorded during the same month in 2025.
Rainfall remained below normal throughout the month. Hato Airport recorded 16.7 millimeters of precipitation in July, which was below the historical average based on climate data from 1991 to 2020. However, rainfall was marginally higher than in July 2025, when only 15.2 millimeters were measured.
The Meteorological Service also reported stronger-than-normal winds during the month. While higher wind speeds can provide some relief from elevated temperatures, they may also contribute to rougher sea conditions and increase the risk of brush fires when combined with dry weather.
According to the climatological analysis, the "normal" values used for comparison are based on a 30-year climate reference period spanning 1991 through 2020.
The latest figures reflect the variable weather conditions experienced across Curaçao during July, with above-average temperatures, below-average rainfall and stronger winds shaping the island's climate during the month.
