Local | By Correspondent March 28, 2025

WILLEMSTAD - Judges and secretaries of the Joint Court of Justice recently paid a working visit to the Coast Guard to gain a better understanding of its daily operations. The work of the Coast Guard frequently arises in criminal cases handled by the Court.

The delegation was welcomed at the Coast Guard’s support station, where they received a briefing on the organization’s operations, resources, and challenges. The visit provided Court members with the opportunity to observe firsthand how maritime surveillance and enforcement are conducted.

Additionally, agreements were made for a follow-up visit, which will focus on the application of international treaties, including the San José Convention. This treaty plays a crucial role in cross-border cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking.
