John Soliano sworn in as the new Lt-Governor of Bonaire

KRALENDIJK - John Soliano has been officially sworn in as the new lieutenant-governor of the public body of Bonaire. His appointment, which took effect on Thursday, was made on the recommendation of the State Secretary for Kingdom Relations and Digitalization. 

Since 2024, Soliano has been the Director of Operations and Support at the Public Body of Bonaire. Previously, he worked as an independent consultant and spent six years as a manager at Orco Bank Bonaire. From 2012 to 2016, he led the reorganization of the Bonaire Holding Company. Additionally, he held various interim and management positions at Telbo and the Water and Energy Company Bonaire, according to the Association of Dutch Municipalities. 

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Saturday during a meeting of the Island Council, where Acting Kingdom Representative Jan Helmond administered the oath. The ceremony was attended by invitees and Soliano's family members. 

During the ceremony, Helmond expressed his confidence in a good collaboration with the new governor. He wished Soliano “much wisdom, patience, humor, and above all, good health to fulfill this challenging role with energy.”
