JetBlue cancels 37 routes, also to Aruba and Sint Maarten

ORANJESTAD - JetBlue Airways is cutting 37 routes from its network in an effort to ensure operational reliability on the remaining routes. After already adjusting the schedule for the busy summer season, the airline is further adjusting the schedule to better prepare for the fall and winter.

Many suspensions had been introduced before and now extended. The decision comes after JetBlue has already canceled or suspended more than 20 routes before the summer.

According to FlightAware, on Sunday, April 3, the airline had to cancel 33 percent of its flights and another 35 percent of flights were delayed.

The problems continued when JetBlue got 18 percent on Saturday, April 9 of its flights, 191 in total, and 48 percent of its flights were delayed.

On Sunday, April 10, thirteen percent of flights (146) were cancelled, with 37 percent of flights delayed, 407 in total. JetBlue doesn't want that anymore. According to the company, many of the problems lie outside its sphere of influence, such as problems with air traffic control at various airports.

Caribbean Islands

For the Dutch islands in the Caribbean, this concerns flights from Newark and Fort Lauderdale to Aruba and Sint Maarten. The airline continues to fly daily to Aruba from New York JFK and Boston. The connection between New York JFK and Sint Maarten also continues to fly.

JetBlue isn't the only airline to cancel routes ahead of the fall and winter seasons. American Airlines confirmed in early August that it is canceling thousands of flights in September and October to minimize potential flight disruptions, with the Philadelphia hub taking the biggest blow.
