WILLEMSTAD - Jetair announced that as of August 28, 2023, the aircraft with registration PJ-JAC has been permanently retired from service. The primary reason behind this decision is the substantial cost of major maintenance, which now exceeds the aircraft's overall value.
To ensure the responsible and uninterrupted continuation of their operations, Jetair has taken the initiative to lease an aircraft from Fly Allways, a Surinamese airline. This leased aircraft has been put into service to cover the routes specified in the existing flight schedule, commencing on August 28, 2023.
In the interim, the inspection of Jetair's second Fokker aircraft with registration PJ-JAB is nearing completion, and preparations are underway to make this aircraft flight-ready. The transition is scheduled to occur on September 28, 2023, when PJ-JAB is set to take over the operation, ensuring minimal disruption to the airline's services.
Jetair is also actively engaged in the process of procuring new aircraft that will permanently replace the Fokker aircraft PJ-JAB in the near future. The final selection of the new aircraft type is expected to be unveiled next month, marking a significant step in Jetair's commitment to maintaining a modern and efficient fleet.
