Jetair brings stranded passengers home

Local | By Correspondent May 24, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - The passengers of Jetair who have been stranded in various locations abroad since the weekend can return home today and tomorrow.

The airline’s only operational aircraft was grounded due to an unplanned engine replacement, leaving passengers stranded in Medellín, Aruba, and Sint-Maarten.

The Fokker 70 of Jetair will depart from Curaçao today at 10:30 AM, heading first to Sint-Maarten to pick up the travelers and then return to Hato at 2:30 PM. At 4:00 PM, the aircraft will fly to Medellín, returning just before 8:00 PM with the stranded passengers.

Tomorrow, Jetair will fly from Curaçao to Kingston at 2:00 PM, returning at 6:30 PM. By Sunday, the schedule will be back on track, with flights to Medellín and Sint-Maarten operating as per the regular timetable.

Complaints

Various social media platforms have seen numerous complaints from passengers who reported that nothing had been arranged for them. Some passengers stranded in Medellín were told there was no immediate solution, and they needed to arrange tickets with another airline themselves.

This caused great indignation among the affected passengers, who felt that Jetair had abandoned them. Additionally, most passengers reported that no accommodations were provided for overnight stays in hotels.
