WILLEMSTAD - A recent survey conducted by the Knowledge Center Curaçao, a part of the University of the Dutch Caribbean (UDC), reveals that Javier Silvana is the most popular politician among Curaçaoan voters. A whopping 41% of the respondents expressed confidence in him.
In total, 737 Curaçaoan voters were surveyed during the period from June 4 to June 21, 2023. The survey focused on political preferences, voting behavior in previous elections, and current party choices.
The survey also assessed the level of trust that voters have in various political figures. The results of this survey were compared to those of a similar survey conducted in September 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Conclusions:
Following Silvana, in second place is Rutmilda Larmonie-Cecilia from the PNP party with 33 percent confidence, followed by Ruisandro Cijntje (PNP) and Sithree van Heydoorn (MFK) with 27 percent confidence each.
Notably, Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas (MFK) ranks fifth with 23 percent confidence. The first eight places are occupied by members of the current coalition (MFK-PNP).
The leaders of the largest opposition parties (MAN and PAR) scored eighteen percent (Mc William) and fourteen percent (Girigorie), respectively, indicating relatively lower levels of trust.
Detailed Results:
Upon closer examination of the results, it becomes apparent that around 26 percent of the respondents have little confidence in Javier Silvana, while nineteen percent are neutral, and fifteen percent have no opinion.
A significant 41 percent – as mentioned before – have a high level of confidence in him. However, Silvana not only has the highest percentage of confident voters, but also the highest percentage of voters with little or no confidence.
Rutmilda Larmonie-Cecilia ranks second with 33 percent confidence and 27 percent with little or no confidence. Prime Minister Pisas ranks fifth with 23 percent confidence and nearly 40 percent with little or no confidence.
