Local, | By Correspondent February 12, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Nearly one in three residents of Jandoret is 65 years or older, making it one of the more heavily aged neighborhoods on the island. The figures come from the 2023 Population Census published by the Central Bureau of Statistics Curaçao (CBS).

Jandoret has a total population of 1,646 residents, including 716 men and 929 women. The age distribution reveals that almost 13 percent of residents are under 15 years old, while approximately 56 percent fall within the working-age group of 15 to 64 years.

However, more than 31 percent of the neighborhood’s population is 65 years or older — a significantly high proportion that points to a relatively advanced level of aging compared to many other areas.

The majority of residents were born in Curaçao. According to the census, 87 percent of the population is locally born, while nearly 13 percent were born abroad. In addition, just over 31 percent of residents are married.

Jandoret consists of 724 housing units, with an average household size of 2.5 persons. The unemployment rate in the neighborhood stands at 4.6 percent.

The data from the 2023 Census provides a general overview of the demographic and social characteristics of Jandoret and highlights the neighborhood’s aging profile, which may have implications for future planning in areas such as healthcare, social services and housing.
