WILLEMSTAD - Comedian Jandino Asporaat has announced plans to expand his nature park, Hòfi Mango, on Curaçao with the addition of a butterfly garden after its reopening next year. The park, which was severely damaged by floods and storms in May, is set to reopen on November 11.
"We’re coming back stronger," said Asporaat on Monday. "We’ve faced some challenges, but the garden will be even more beautiful than before. After December, we’ll begin adding a new section—a butterfly garden."
Preparations for the new garden are already underway, with planting in progress. "We’re planting now and will continue investing to make it even better," he added.
Devastation from Flooding
In May, Asporaat rushed to Curaçao after his park was devastated by extreme weather and flooding. Footage showed water levels rising nearly a meter around the park’s buildings.
Hòfi Mango, a 24-hectare property, was acquired by Asporaat’s company in 2021. After undergoing renovations, the park was opened to the public, offering a peaceful escape in nature.
The expansion of the butterfly garden will mark a new chapter for Hòfi Mango as it recovers from the destruction.
