WILLEMSTAD – Former MFK Member of Parliament and former Minister of Public Health, Environment and Nature (GMN), Jacinta Constancia, is making a political comeback. According to several sources on social media, Constancia will serve as a parliamentary staffer for the ruling party MFK in the newly elected Parliament (Staten).
Constancia has had a long political career, starting with the political party FOL before becoming active within MFK. She served as GMN Minister from 2010 to 2012 and later as a Member of Parliament until 2021.
Her political trajectory, however, has been marred by legal issues. In 2022, Constancia was convicted in connection with a face mask procurement scandal and received a prison sentence. Despite this conviction, she is now re-entering the political arena in a supporting role within the MFK faction.
The decision to reintegrate Constancia into the party's parliamentary team has sparked reactions online, highlighting the continued tension between political appointments and public accountability.
