WILLEMSTAD - Not all employees of the Isla Refinery have registered with the government-owned company Refineria di Korsou (RdK) for payment of their salary. They only receive this if they sign a new employment contract.
Formally, the Curaçao Refinery Utilities (CRU), the operator of the BOO central, becomes their new employer.
On December 31 there were, only 55 of the 900 employees that had signed.
Their unions are requesting them to sign as soon as possible to guarantee their jobs for at least another six months while the Klesch Group is preparing to take over the operations of the refinery.
