WILLEMSTAD - The Health Inspection finds the current waiting lists at the hospital unacceptable. Especially combined waiting lists between radiology and specialists are a problem and also not allowed. The Curaçao Medical Center has until August 11th to come up with a solution. Health inspector Sirving Keli writes this in a letter to the management of the CMC hospital.
According to Keli, it has been known for some time that patients encounter problems in obtaining consultations with certain specialists at CMC. Making appointments for radiological examinations is also nearly impossible with the message to call back.
Patients are often told by the Inspection that the schedule for 2024 has not been opened yet, making it impossible for them to make appointments with specialists. After a certain date in 2023, no appointments can be made anymore on the instruction of the specialists, as they will no longer be available.
Patients have been instructed to contact at the end of the year or the beginning of 2024 to make an appointment.
According to the Inspector, this must now come to an end. The Minister of Health has been informed about the situation by him.
