Inspection in Punda by Economic Affairs and ROP

Local | By Correspondent September 13, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - The Inspectorate of Economic Affairs and the ROP conducted a joint inspection in the center of Punda yesterday. The action targeted several commercial businesses not complying with regulations, such as displaying products on the sidewalk without a permit and setting up terraces without a valid permit.

The inspection focused on 21 businesses in the areas of Columbusstraat, Keukenstraat, Gomezplein, Hanchi Snoa, Hanchi Vico, Prinsenstraat, and Madurostraat. Among the businesses visited were El Nuevo Milenio, Sai Impex, Zeven Convenience Store, Meon, Gordo Grill, Jean Pate Fines, and Bono 6.

A key focus of the inspection was to ensure sidewalks remain clear for pedestrians. No commercial activity should obstruct pedestrian traffic. Businesses displaying products on the street without a permit were addressed, and checks were made to ensure terraces had the necessary permits.

The inspection is part of a broader effort to ensure that all businesses in Curaçao adhere to the country’s laws and regulations. Businesses found in violation can expect fines or sanctions.
