WILLEMSTAD - The Inspectorate of the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO) started inspections of several food and beverage establishments on the carnival route at the end of January. By starting early with this, owners were given time to get their affairs in order before the carnival starts.

During this week's inspections, a number of these businesses appear to have done nothing about it. The Inspectorate has therefore closed them until they can get their affairs in order, especially their economic permits.

The carnival weekend starts on 21 February.
