WILLEMSTAD - Within a year of transforming part of the economic zone in Nieuwe Haven into Parke Industrial Dokweg, the site is now fully occupied, according to the Ministry of Finance. As of late November, there is even a waiting list for businesses seeking space.
The industrial park, covering an area of 25,000 square meters, offers multifunctional business spaces and is secured by Cursecure. Unlike other parks managed by Curinde, no financial incentives are provided here. Nevertheless, nearly 35 companies have established themselves at the location, including service providers specializing in air conditioning, woodworking, and construction materials.
Compliance and Regulation
To ensure compliance with tax regulations, Curinde has signed a protocol with Customs and Cursecure. "This is an important step in making economic zones more efficient and secure," stated the Ministry of Finance.
A proposed law for special economic zones, currently in its final phase, aims to enhance Curaçao's competitiveness in the region. The proposal aligns with international standards set by the OECD and the European Union. With support from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, Curinde sees potential growth opportunities for economic zones like Dokweg and Hato.
