WILLEMSTAD - Minister Charles Cooper of the Ministry of Traffic, Transportation, and Urban Planning provides clarifying information in a press release regarding incorrect information circulating about Parasasa Beach. There is a communication inviting citizens to participate in a demonstration on Wednesday, May 8th, in the morning.
Minister Cooper regrets the dissemination of incorrect information. National laws, such as "Stranden der zee" (Beaches of the sea), prohibit any government from dealing with the country's coastline without involvement from Parliament.
Minister Cooper and the Government of Curaçao have no intention of handing over Parasasa Beach or any other beaches to third-party developers.
Parasasa Beach belongs to the people of Curaçao and will remain so. Furthermore, the government, represented by Minister Cooper along with Minister Cijntje, will develop more beaches along the Free Beach Corridor for the people of Curaçao.
There is a case pending regarding a portion of the beach near the Marriott hotel, and the government will respect the process.
