WILLEMSTAD - The Veterinary Service of the Ministry of Health, Environment, and Nature has responded to reports and a video circulated through local media on Thursday. The reports claimed that the quarantine facility is overcrowded and unhygienic. According to the service, these claims are inaccurate.
Currently, only two small dogs are in quarantine, the service reports. This happened because their owners were unable to provide the required vaccination and health documents upon arrival in Curaçao. Without these official papers, including a document from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the dogs are not permitted to roam freely.
The service also emphasized that the dogs pose no risk to public health. Meanwhile, it is working on adjustments to be better prepared for similar situations in the future.
