WILLEMSTAD - More than forty brave kite surfers, windsurfers, and wing foilers surf from Klein Curaçao to Mambo Beach on Sunday 5 February. In addition to the Ride, Walk and Swim disciplines, which will also take place next Sunday, the surfing discipline has been added to this. This is what the initiator of Surf for the Roses, Emanuel Quintero, says.
Quintero, the owner of Klein Curaçao Kitesurfing, reports that it was quite an operation to complete the organization, safety, and logistics of the surfing event. Among other things, a training session and a material check were set up to ensure that everything went according to plan.
Weather conditions will determine how long the crossing will take. High waves and a lot of wind can ensure that the surfers are on the road for longer. The candidates will depart from Klein Curaçao at 11:30 AM and the organization expects them to arrive at Mambo Beach at approximately 2:00 PM. The surfers all have a lot of experience. As a precaution, Citro and a number of following boats will sail along.
In an earlier post, it was announced that registrations for Ride, Walk, and Swim for the Roses were very high. With the discipline of surfing added, even more money will be raised for the goal: supporting people with cancer and their families.
