WILLEMSTAD - Starting from Monday, April 15, the Public Works Department will begin work to enhance traffic safety at the bend near Mangusa Rio Canario on Schottegatweg Noord. This area is known to be hazardous, and the new infrastructure measures aim to change that.
The works include the implementation of a system called 'super elevation.' This system involves raising a part of the road, making it easier for vehicles to maintain control and navigate the bend. The principle behind 'super elevation' is to use gravity to your advantage, rather than fighting against it.
The execution of this project is entrusted to contractor CWM, and the works will take place from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with an expected duration of four weeks. Traffic will be diverted during this period. Motorists are urged to drive carefully.
These measures represent a significant step forward in improving traffic safety at a critical point on Schottegatweg Noord, where many accidents, sometimes resulting in fatalities, occur.
