Local | By Correspondent July 20, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - The Inspection discovered an illegal medical practice in a hotel room in Punda yesterday. The doctor had converted the hotel room into a clinic to treat patients.

Officials from the Economic Inspection of MEO uncovered this illegal practice following a tip. The police were also present during the raid.

The doctor's practice was run by a Venezuelan woman. In a statement, she claimed that everything in the room was for her personal use.

A large quantity of used needles was found in a cooler box, and a price list for all medical services that could be provided was displayed on a banner. These services included treatments for Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, migraines, acute and chronic pain, stress, depression, anxiety, and various other medical conditions.

A medical diploma was also found, indicating that the woman had graduated from the Colegio de Medicos in the Venezuelan province of Falcon.

The woman had previously applied to the Ministry of Public Health to work in Curaçao, but her request was denied. It was also reported that she had previously been active in Aruba.
