Illegal Construction Halted on Government Land in Mahuma

WILLEMSTAD - On Thursday, October 30, around 7:00 a.m., the Projectteam Toezicht & Handhaving (PTH) received a report that a bulldozer was operating on government-owned land in the Mahuma area.

PTH officers immediately responded to the scene and ordered construction work to stop, as excavation was underway to lay illegal foundations on public land. Those responsible have been instructed to restore the terrain to its original state, including refilling the dug foundation trenches.

Authorities issued a direct order for all workers to vacate the premises immediately. PTH stated it will continue monitoring the area to ensure that construction does not resume. Th

e agency emphasized that filing a request for land legalization with the Department of Land Management (Domeinbeheer) does not grant ownership or permission to build. Any construction activity on such land requires an official ministerial decree.

PTH issued a warning to all individuals engaging in illegal construction to stop immediately and avoid losing their investments, stressing that the government will continue to enforce the law against unauthorized land use.
