WILLEMSTAD - An unprecedented tragedy unfolded at Jean Louis' farm in Willemstad, where aggressive dogs brutally killed 700 chickens and 400 chicks. This incident, described as a 'massacre,' occurred a few days ago. The estimated damage is 18,000 guilders.
The farm owner, Javier Janga, encountered a heart-wrenching sight when he entered his property: dead chickens were scattered everywhere. Janga, who has been running his poultry business for some time, obtained the land through the kindness of people in the area. He gradually built a customer base, mainly consisting of Chinese-Curaçao residents who bought the chickens for personal use or their restaurants.
The drama unfolded when the neighbor's dogs dug under a fence and invaded the property. They killed all 700 chickens, which were almost ready for sale. The dogs also broke into a container where chicks were being raised. Thanks to an alert neighbor who heard sounds in the middle of the night, not all animals were killed; about 300 chicks survived the attack.
Initial investigations indicate that the aggressive dogs were of the pitbull breed. The neighbor who noticed the incident saw four dogs leaving the property.
Janga's farm had been targeted in previous attacks, but this time, the devastation was extreme, indicating particularly aggressive animals.
