WILLEMSTAD – The Organized Crime Division of the Curaçao Police Force (KPC) has arrested a man and a woman in connection with an ongoing human trafficking and smuggling investigation. The arrests took place during two police raids in Brievengat and along the F.D. Rooseveltweg.
During a search at a residence in Brievengat, officers arrested a 59-year-old Curaçao-born man. A 47-year-old woman from the Dominican Republic was also taken into custody. Authorities later discovered that her residency documents were not in order, and she was illegally residing on the island.
The police seized multiple items relevant to the criminal investigation, although specific details about the evidence have not been disclosed.
The suspects have been brought before a judicial officer. The man remains in custody as the investigation continues, while the woman is being detained pending deportation.
The authorities are continuing their investigation, and it is unclear if more arrests will follow.
