Tele Curaçao: ATM, Tele Curaçao appeals to cancel the proceeding and continue paying Lew Yen Tai.
WILLEMSTAD - The Director of Tele Curaçao, who is currently on non-active status, has initiated a civil process against Tele Curaçao. It is known that a dispute has arisen between Hugo Lew Yen Tai and the national broadcaster, following Tery Hernandez's entry into the company as interim management.
Hernandez, appointed by Minister Charles Cooper, entered the national broadcaster to supposedly "rectify" the organization, reportedly under Cooper's orders. However, things went completely awry regarding Hernandez's plan to reorganize Tele Curaçao. Even an issue involving Cooper, who pointed to Hernandez, started resulting in public offenses on Hernandez's part, claiming that Cooper has personal knowledge that cannot be ignored at the organization.
Between Hugo Lew Yen Tai and Hernandez, things have not gone smoothly either. Hernandez initiated a forensic investigation where he accused Lew Yen Tai of committing criminal acts. According to Hernandez, at the moment when he was about to take legal action against Lew Yen Tai at the Public Prosecutor's Office, Minister Cooper lobbied for the Board of Commissioners to terminate Hernandez's contract without extension.
Hugo Lew Yen Tai, on the other hand, has had enough. He initiated an expedited legal process, for which treatment was scheduled for this morning. Lew Yen Tai is represented by lawyer Lisanne Asjes, who last Friday received a letter from Tele Curaçao's representation to cancel today's expedited procedure. Tele Curaçao (ATM) has committed to continue wage payment. ATM is seeking a more suitable solution to conclude the relationship with Lew Yen Tai.
Friday's decision signifies that Lew Yen Tai continues in service at Tele Curaçao.
