Hospice Arco Cavent raises 52,500 guilders

Local | By Correspondent December 12, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - The Week4Light, an annual fundraising campaign by Hospice Arco Cavent, raised an impressive 52,500 guilders this year. From December 2 to 9, activities were organized to raise awareness about the final stage of life and garner essential financial support for the hospice.

People contributed to this cause by purchasing lantern bags, which could be personally placed in the large memorial heart at the Thorns Cathedral.

The conclusion of Week4Light on December 9 was an emotional and impressive event. In total, 1000 lantern bags were sold, creating a beautiful light display in the memorial heart.

This moment of togetherness, where individuals placed a lantern bag in memory of their departed loved ones, was enhanced by the enchanting saxophone music of Benjamin Emanuel and the illuminated Thorns Cathedral, an artwork by Herman van Bergen.

The event was not only characterized by the atmospheric setting but also by the community coming together to show support. "Week4Light is more than a fundraising event; it is an opportunity to openly discuss the final stage of life. We are touched by the overwhelming support from the community," said a spokesperson for the hospice. "This contribution enables us to provide essential care and comfort to people in their final stage of life."

For those who wish to continue supporting the hospice, the online donation box will remain open for another week. By scanning the QR code, individuals can find more information and contribute to the continuation of Hospice Arco Cavent.
