WILLEMSTAD - Homeowners in the Wechi project in Curaçao have raised numerous complaints regarding various construction defects. Issues reported include homes flooding during rainfall, poor finishes in bathrooms, and the use of inferior building materials.
Fundashon Kas Popular (FKP) has acknowledged the complaints. According to FKP director Arthur Con, the organization will work in conjunction with Wechi Management Company (WMC) to address and resolve all the issues raised by homeowners.
Con stated that residents have been waiting for four months without any resolution to their problems. "They can no longer wait. We empathize with them, and their complaints are valid," Con remarked.
The issues are largely attributed to the contractor, Betonbouw, with whom FKP claims to have had positive experiences in the past. However, the situation at the Wechi project has been different: homes were delivered late and have exhibited multiple defects.
To expedite the resolution of the complaints, smaller contractors are now being engaged. The costs for these additional services will be deducted from the payments due to Betonbouw.
