Historic Moment: Minister Cooper Signs Agreement with Curaçao Airport Holding for Major Airport Area Development

WILLEMSTAD – February 7, 2025, marks a historic moment for Curaçao. The Minister of Traffic, Transport, and Urban Planning, Charles Cooper, has signed an important agreement with Curaçao Airport Holding (CAH) to continue developing the entire area surrounding Curaçao’s airport. This development is expected to have a significant impact on Curaçao’s economy. 

Minister Charles Cooper, together with Wilhelmus Ignacio, Director of Curaçao Airport Holding, signed the agreement. Minister Cooper emphasized the importance of this historic step: 

“This agreement is a crucial milestone in the spatial and economic development of our island. Through this rezoning, we are creating new opportunities for investment, innovation, and job creation. This project will give a major boost to our economy and contribute to a more prosperous Curaçao.” 

The development vision also places great emphasis on preserving green and historical cultural areas, such as Hato Caves and Roi Rincon, which will become an integral part of the project. 

The collaboration between the Ministry and CAH ensures that economic growth and sustainability go hand in hand in the future spatial planning of Curaçao. The next steps will soon be taken to develop and implement this agreement.
