High Compliance Rate Reported During Children’s Carnival Inspections

Local, | By Correspondent February 9, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The vast majority of food and beverage vendors complied with regulations during the Children’s Carnival festivities, according to inspections carried out by a multidisciplinary enforcement team. Authorities report that approximately 98 percent of businesses adhered to the required rules.

The Economic Inspection Department conducted a total of 56 inspections during the event. Only one vendor location, situated near Hanchi Polar, was found to be operating without a valid permit and was ordered to cease its activities immediately.

In addition to permit checks, the Ministry of Health, Environment and Nature (GMN) carried out hygiene inspections to ensure food safety standards were being met. Minister Javier Silvania Boekhoudt accompanied the inspection team and emphasized the importance of proper hygiene and valid permits during large-scale public events.

The Economic Inspection Department expressed satisfaction with the overall outcome of the controls. Officials indicated that some locations will undergo follow-up inspections ahead of the Teen Parade scheduled for later this week.

Authorities say the high compliance rate reflects improved awareness among vendors and contributes to a safer and more organized carnival experience for participants and visitors alike.
