WILLEMSTAD – Minister of Health, Environment and Nature Tyron Boekhoudt visited Klinika Capriles this week for a guided tour and informational meeting focused on the island’s mental health care system.
During the visit, Minister Boekhoudt received a broader overview of the important work carried out daily by the clinic to support individuals with mental health needs.

Officials at the clinic briefed the minister on the various services provided by the institution, the current challenges facing the sector, and the growing needs in mental health care across Curaçao.
Discussions with healthcare professionals focused on several key issues, including patient capacity, guidance and support services, increasing pressure on the mental health sector, and the importance of stronger cooperation between healthcare partners.
Boekhoudt stressed that mental health must continue to receive serious attention within the community.
“Mental health is an essential part of public health. Visits like these are important because they allow me to hear directly from professionals in the sector about the challenges they face, but also where opportunities exist to further improve and strengthen the care our people deserve,” the minister said.
The government of Curaçao said it will continue dialogue with healthcare institutions to evaluate how collaboration can be strengthened to build a more resilient, accessible, and sustainable healthcare system for all residents.
