WILLEMSTAD - Patients who underwent ophthalmic treatment by Mexican eye doctors have not become blind. That's according to the Inspector General of Public Health, Sirving Keli, following an investigation into the treatments.
The Health Inspection initiated an investigation following reports circulating that a large number of operated patients became blind after treatments at the Advent Hospital.
"It was found that there are no patients who have become blind due to the surgeries during the follow-up care. The surgeries were skillfully performed, and patients are further cared for by local ophthalmologists in the periods after the surgery," said Keli.
Furthermore, the Health Inspection has not received any complaints from patients who allegedly became blind as a result of the surgeries.
