WILLEMSTAD - The departure of most medical specialists who resigned from the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) since June of last year is not linked to the Top Income Norm (LNT). This is stated in a press release from the Ministry of Health, Environment, and Nature (GMN), based on written information from Inspector General Sirving Keli. According to CMC, the specialists left because of a reduction in their salaries.
Contrary to CMC’s claims, Keli reports that not all departing specialists are related to the LNT. On average, 15.3 specialists have left CMC, with the number expected to rise to 18.7 soon.
The analysis indicates that of the 18.7 specialists leaving CMC, which the hospital suggests are connected to the LNT, only 4.6 full-time equivalents (five specialists) are actually related to the LNT since June 26, 2023.
"Among the 8.3 full-time equivalents (12 specialists) reported by CMC since June 26, 2023, five specialists have either left for other positions on Curaçao or reduced their working hours. This is not related to the LNT," GMN stated. The remaining departing specialists are either nearing retirement or have reasons unrelated to the LNT.
