Health Department Preparing for New Round of COVID-19 Booster Shots

WILLEMSTAD - The Department of Medicine and Public Health (G&Gz) is preparing for a new round of COVID-19 booster vaccinations, confirmed epidemiologist and head of the Infectious Disease Control Division, Irálice Jansen.

The upcoming booster campaign will target high-risk groups and healthcare workers, who will be eligible to receive the vaccine free of charge. As in previous rounds, the booster will be administered using the Pfizer vaccine.

Jansen noted that a specific start date has not yet been announced, as the department is currently focused on managing the recent increase in fever and respiratory illness cases. The public will be informed through official media channels once vaccination begins.

The Ministry of Health continues to closely monitor the situation regarding both COVID-19 and other respiratory infections. Authorities emphasize that early communication and prevention remain key to protecting vulnerable groups and minimizing health risks across the community.
