Heading toward a new market

Local | By Press release August 29, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - The Marshe Foundation is pleased to announce that the relocation of vendors from the New Market to their temporary location is in full swing.

The first group of vendors has already begun moving to their temporary spots. Since it's essential for the vendors to continue selling their products and services during this transition period, the Marshe Foundation, in collaboration with stakeholders and in communication with the market vendors, has prepared a relocation plan to ensure a structured moving process:

Group 1: August 15 – 5 vendors

Group 2: August 21 - 25 – 30 vendors

Group 3: August 26 - 30 – 25 vendors

Group 4: August 28 - 29 – 18 vendors

Group 5: August 30 – Marshe Foundation Office

The maintenance and renovation of the market aim to modernize it, improve safety for users and visitors, and enhance hygiene. The goal is for the New Market to gain a new identity, becoming more attractive alongside its primary market function. This will draw people throughout the day, including in the evening, stimulating more economic activity and revitalizing the city center.

The Marshe Foundation invites the entire community and tourists to continue visiting our vendors at their new locations while efforts are made to create a modern, attractive, and safe market. For approximately one year, the New Market vendors will be located at Sha Capriles Kade, Plenchi Wilson Papa Godett (Post Office), Wolkstraat, Prinsenstraat, Hanchi Vi Coco, De Ruyterkade, and Waaigat.

We are grateful to all the vendors for their patience and cooperation during this process.
