Harmony of the Seas brings LGBTQ community to Curaçao

Local | By Correspondent February 10, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - The cruise ship the Harmony of the Seas brought nearly 5,000 passengers to Curaçao on Thursday, all of whom feel at home in the lgbtq (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer) scene. The cruise ship, chartered by Atlantis Events, specializes in providing travel within this community.

Albert Elens, director of shipping agent SEL Maduro & Sons, informs that of the 4948 passengers, only 38 are women. The cruise departed from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and was completely sold out before departure. “This indicates that it is a very popular trip,” says Elens.

The cruise sailed from Fort Lauderdale to Labadee in Haiti before crossing over to Aruba. On Thursday, the ship docked at the Tula mega pier in Curaçao, which is the last destination. The two islands are included in the sailing route because they are known as gay-friendly. The Harmony of the Seas departs at 6:30 PM and then sails back to Fort Lauderdale.
