WILLEMSTAD – On Friday, March 28, 2025, the official handover and opening of the new security gate ("BOX") at the Curaçao Detention and Correctional Center (SDKK) took place.
Prison management is extremely pleased with this investment in the new security gate, which ensures that safety and daily operations will continue optimally. This gate serves as the main entrance, used both when inmates are detained and when they are released.
During the handover and opening ceremony, Ms. Jamila Pietersz, the project leader, gave an overview of all the work carried out since 2023 until the project’s completion. She also thanked the SDKK management team for their trust, as well as Mr. Rensly Anita and his team of prison technicians and maintenance staff for their contributions.
Following her speech, Deputy Director Mr. Anthony Hasselmiejer addressed the attendees, and finally, Mr. Kees van Veen, the technician who installed the gate, provided a detailed explanation of its advantages and operation within the prison facility.
The ceremony concluded in a pleasant atmosphere, where all attendees had the opportunity to learn more about the new gate and applaud those who contributed to the project, including IT Solution and Lloyde & More Bouwbedrijf.
Prison management once again emphasized that developments like these contribute to the overall security of the institution.
