WILLEMSTAD - A group of men dressed in purple raised questions among passersby on Thursday as they moved mainly through the city center with specific expressions, according to the Curaçao Police Force (KPC).
The men are reportedly part of a religious group called 'Israel United in Christ.' Many of them arrived in the morning from a cruise ship and left the island later in the afternoon. The police state that the group had obtained a permit in advance to conduct a march through the city center.
Footage shows the men also present in the Brievengat neighborhood and at a Van Dis gas station. Additionally, they were seen in front of the Public Prosecutor's office building.
The KPC mentioned that they requested the group to move in smaller groups to prevent unrest. The police and the Curaçao Security Corps were present in the Mega Pier area and the city center as part of the 'Fin di aña sin zanzaña' operation to ensure that everything proceeded calmly.
According to the KPC, no incidents occurred during the operation.
