WILLEMSTAD – Neighbors of the Dog Center in Rio Magdalena will receive a compensation of 25,000 guilders from the government due to the noise disturbance caused by the shelter. The residents had filed a lawsuit against the center for noise pollution from the barking dogs.
Finance Minister Javier Silvania (MFK) announced on Facebook that a sound study had been conducted, and it was found that the Dog Center does not have a noise permit.
The shelter had previously received 300,000 guilders to relocate. According to the minister, it is important to balance the interests of the residents and those of the Dog Center, which is dedicated to helping stray dogs. The compensation aims to cover the costs the neighbors may have incurred due to the ongoing situation.
The conflict between the Dog Center and its neighbors has been ongoing for some time. While the court reviews the case, the government is seeking a solution that ensures both animal welfare and the livability of the neighborhood are maintained.
