Government to Address Ongoing Smoke Nuisance at Ronde Klip

WILLEMSTAD – The Ministry of Health, Environment and Nature (GMN) has announced it is working on a plan to tackle the persistent smoke nuisance in the Ronde Klip area. The smoke is the result of an underground fire that has been burning since late April at an illegal dumping site, according to local reports.

Due to the fire’s location beneath the surface, firefighters have been unable to fully extinguish the flames. The underground nature of the blaze makes traditional firefighting methods ineffective and presents a long-term environmental and public health risk.

In response, the government is now actively consulting with nearby residents and developing a concrete action plan to extinguish the fire permanently.

The situation has sparked concern among locals, who have been experiencing weeks of smoke and poor air quality. Authorities have pledged to resolve the issue swiftly and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
